Course Learning Objectives/Outcomes

By the end of the course, the Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Social Worker or Psychologist will be able to:
-LIst a possible response if your client/patient in pain states, “There’s no way I can do any activity no matter how much I pace myself.”
-Name 5 examples of self-monitoring that your patient/client can use to process his/her negative thoughts associated with pain.
-List 2 examples of coping statements that may help to calm your patient with chronic pain.
-Name 5 examples of insomnia Stimulus Control instructions a therapist may discuss with his/her patients/clients .
-Regarding the goal of anticipating obstacles after therapy ends, List 3 things the therapist may discuss with the patient/client.
-Name 6 points to discuss in the followup session to cognitive behavior Therapy for chronic pain to gauge how well the CBT-CP tools have been implemented.
